Hyderabad: The Telangana transport department has asked all vehicle owners in the state to update their mobile numbers on the RTA's website.
The Telangana police launched an integrated e-challan application to streamline enforcement of traffic rules in the state and promote self-discipline and self-compliance among people. Whenever any e-challan is booked against a vehicle, an SMS alert is automatically sent to the phone number linked to the owner of the vehicle as per the RTA database. However, due to various reasons, a large number of vehicles in the state have not updated the correct and valid phone numbers of the respective owners of the vehicles thus creating huge problems both to the public and the police.
The commissioner of police, Cyberabad, asked the state transport department to build a mechanism to update phone numbers to better manage traffic and improve road safety. In this regard, the transport department made certain modifications on its website to update the mobile numbers of vehicle owners and also block further transactions of vehicle owners in the CFST until they update their mobile numbers.
All vehicle owners have been requested to use the opportunity to upload their phone numbers on the website www.transport.telangana.gov.in for traffic alerts and updates.
