HYD ASI sets himself on fire allegedly due to harassment by superiors

Hyderabad: Allegedly upset over harassment from superiors and being falsely implicated in a case, an assistant sub-inspector attempted suicide at Balapur in Hyderabad outskirts. K Narsimha climbed over a water tank near the police station and immolated himself. His colleagues noticed it and rushed to his rescue. They shifted him to DRDL Apollo hospital at Kanchan Bagh. According to sources, he had suffered 30 per cent burns, and he is reportedly out of danger.

Narsimha has been working at Balapur police station for more than a couple of years. A few days ago, a patrolling team demanded money from the organisers of an event at a function hall. Narsimha’s son, who was there, told officials that his father is a police officer. When the personnel asked for his father, Narsimha came to them and explained the situation. However, the patrolling staff reportedly told them that they were collecting money on the instructions of the Inspector.

Next day at the police station, Narsimha informed this to the Inspector, and it led to an argument. The Inspector then threatened Narsimha stating that the latter will soon be transferred from the station. The next day he was transferred to a nearby police station and allegedly upset over the events, he tried to kill himself.
