Hyd commissioner suspends 6 policemen for letting hookah parlours flourish at night
By Newsmeter Network Published on 7 Nov 2019 12:08 PM ISTHyderabad: Hyderabad commissioner Anjani Kumar has ordered the suspension of four sub-inspectors and two assistant sub-inspectors working at the police commissionerate for allegedly collecting mamool.
The policemen have been identified as SIs Kurumurthy and D Sreenu who had earlier worked at Jubilee Hills police station, and E Shankar and Ramakrishna who are presently working at the same police station. Orders were also issued against ASIs Mohd Jaffar and Samuel.
There were complaints against the personnel that they were allowing hookah parlours to run illegally, mostly during night hours, after collecting mamool. The illegal business had become rampant, especially when these policemen were on night duty.
The Hyderabad commissioner set up an inquiry following a tip about their misdeeds. The probe found substance in the allegations against the cops. Based on the inquiry report, the Hyderabad commissioner ordered action against the six.
Kurumurthy and Sreenu are now posted at Shahinayathgunj and Mahankali police stations respectively, while the others are working at Jubilee Hills police station.
