Hyderabad groom found hanging hours before wedding; police starts probe

Hyderabad: Hours before beginning a new life, a 24-year-old groom ended his life at Kompally in Hyderabad. N Sai Sandeep was found hanging in a room in the function hall, where he was supposed to have gotten married on Sunday morning.

Sandeep had recently completed engineering and was searching for a job. His marriage was fixed with a girl from Balanagar, and the wedding was to be held at the girl’s place following the tradition. The venue was finalised at Sri Convention Function Hall in Kompally at 11.35 am on Sunday.

On Saturday night, Sandeep, along with his cousins, arrived at the hall and went to sleep, while his family members were to join them in the morning.

His relatives arrived in the morning and were knocking on his door to get him ready. However, there was no response from inside. They sought the help of the venue staff and used a duplicate key to open the room, only to find him hanging from the ceiling fan. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead.

Inquiries revealed that Hyderabad groom Sandeep’s mother passed away during his childhood, and since then he was brought up by his maternal grandparents. His father Srinivas Chary retired as a government lecturer, and his grandfather recently passed away due to ill health.

While police suspect that he was upset with personal issues, they are also probing into other angles.
