Hyderabad Mayors office sealed as driver, attender tested +Ve

Hyderabad: Three staffers of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, including Mayor Bonthu Rammohan's personal driver and attender, have been tested COVID-19 positive. The office of the Mayor located at GHMC headquarters at Tank bund, has been temporarily sealed.

Speaking to NewsMeter, Mayor Bonthu Rammohan said," Twelve people from my house including personal assistants and servants besides my family underwent COVID testing. The medical reports turned positive for two (driver and attender) while the rest are negative. The duo have been shifted to isolation wards at nature cure. While the rest are placed under home quarantine".

Notably, the driver has been accompanying the Mayor on ground inspection, official meetings and also residence in a small portion at Mayor's residence in Banjara Hills.

Earlier, a few sections in the GHMC headquarters were sealed, as a staffer serving in the billing section located on the 3rd floor was tested positive.

Besides municipal staff, Ten police officers from Banjara Hills police station in Hyderabad, including a sub-inspector, eight constables, and a home guard, tested positive for COVID-19 on 11 June.

Another constable working at the Deputy Commissioner of Police- west zone office, who is a resident of Nizampet on the outskirts of the city, has also tested positive. As a precautionary measure, the police station has been sanitised and many staff members have been advised to quarantine themselves.

Meanwhile,Telangana records its highest single-day spike of 209 +ve cases on June 11th. Of the 209 new cases, 208 are local cases while one is a migrant/foreign returnee, the health bulletin released by the state medical and health department said. Telangana has so far reported 4,320 positive cases of which over 175 were reported from the GHMC on Thursday while 10 were from Medchal. The total number of active cases in the state stands at 2,162.
