Hyderabad police registers case against MLA Raja Singh for his ‘Mohammed’ comment on Disha’s rape and murder

Hyderabad: Bahadurpura police of Hyderabad Commissionerate registered a case against Goshamahal MLA Raja Singh Lodh for his comments on the rape and murder of Disha on Twitter. Singh had written, “We believe that a guy like Mohammed can only commit a crime like rape and murder (translated from the original).”

Taking a strong objection to the post, which had ‘Mohammed’ in it, Mohammad Nawazuddin from Kishanbagh lodged a complaint against the MLA. While condemning the incident, he also sought strict action against the BJP legislator. Following this police registered a case under charges of deliberate and malicious acts, intending to outrage any group by insulting their religion or religious beliefs.

So far, there are 43 cases registered against Raja Singh at various police stations across Telangana and in other parts of the country. With the latest addition, the number has reached 44, making him the legislator with the most number of cases pending against them.

Condemning the police and daring them, Raja Singh noted that he merely commented on the rape and murder of the innocent girl. The MLA said, “A woman was brutally raped and murdered in Telangana, and the main accused’s name is Mohammed Pasha (Mohammed Areef). While the whole country is standing with Disha and demanding justice for her, a few Muslims from the Old City say that I used Mohammed’s name inappropriately. They filed a complaint against me, and the police filed a case based on that.”

He added that he had merely raised his voice against the issue of an innocent woman who was raped and burnt alive. “Don’t think that I will be scared with this small FIR, as this has been going on for a very long time,” the Goshamahal MLA said.

Raja Singh went on to clarify that these “monsters, Mohammed and three others may walk free from the court” but that he wouldn’t “leave them”. “They cannot escape from our hands. I pray to God that they would also meet the same death as that of Disha’s,” he added.

Meanwhile, police have started collecting evidence in the case.
