Hyderabad stands at 7th position in country's fitness quotient

However, when it comes to staying fit, the city seems to be getting wobbly legs. The City of Charminar has been ranked seventh among fittest cities in India, according to India Fit Report-2020.
Based on ten parameters, GOQII surveyed in 12 cities and ranked them accordingly. Majority of Hyderabad's citizens are suffering from body pain and thyroid-related problems, observed the study. However, Hyderabad in a better position in diseases such as blood pressure, heart problems, acidity, allergy, etc, while leading in liquor consumption, said the study.
Chandigarh, Jaipur and Indore stood at first three places, while Hyderabad at seventh place and the national capital city New Delhi at 12th place.
Hyderabad ranked at ninth position in Body mass index as 16.3 percent people are underweight and 25.6 percent are overweight.
According to the study, Hyderabad was at fourth position in diabetes, the fifth position in cholesterol, 11th position in blood pressure, 12th position in the thyroid, 14th position in heart-related problems.
In terms of hospitalisation for the second time in a year, Hyderabad has been ranked at the second position and first in body pains, the fourth position in allergy.
In terms of water intake, Hyderabad stood at 11th position as the average drinking of water was 2.1 litres per day. In terms of sleeping, Hyderabadis stood at 10th position with 6.4 hours a day and stood at ninth place in liquor consumption.
The survey further highlighted that northern India has more people with age of over 100 years. All the respondents, who are above 90 years of age, revealed their secret of living longer and said that home food and spending maximum time with family members and friends. Being mentally healthy is the prime reason for their longevity, said the study.
In the 2019 study, Hyderabad was ranked as a third fittest city but lost its position due to the rising obesity problem. Last year rankings, Bengaluru topped the list, while National Capital Region (NCR) of Delhi ranked at the second.
