1 million biryanis, 4L haleem: Here’s what Hyderabadis ordered this Ramzan

The report also showed an increase in orders for traditional sweets such as malpua, firni, and rabri by 20%.
The city, known as the biryani capital of the country, ordered a whopping 1 million biryanis on Swiggy this Ramzan, which is a 20% increase compared to the same period last year. Haleem, a heartwarming dish typically consumed during the celebration, saw over 4,00,000 orders placed for more than nine variants, including chicken, palamuru pottel, Persian special haleem, and dry fruit haleem. Mutton haleem was the most popular type of haleem.
Samosas and bhajiyas, along with dishes made from dates, were the most popular Iftar items, with a 77% increase in orders for bhajiyas. Pista House Haleem, Paradise Biryani, and Mehfil were the most popular restaurants during Iftar.
To celebrate the festivities of Ramzan, Swiggy launched an innovative out-of-home (OOH) campaign with an LED billboard that displayed a haleem handi on a burner. The billboards were mounted at Secunderabad and Towlichowki in Hyderabad. Also. several renowned restaurants in Hyderabad are running exclusive offers on haleem.
The report also showed that consumers turned to Instamart for quick delivery of iftar necessities, including dates and other dry fruits, to break their fasts. There were close to half a million orders placed for dry fruits and dates this Ramzan, with a significant increase in the number of orders placed just for dates.
