Hyderabad: The Shankarpally police have registered a case against a group of students after a video of a student being assaulted went viral. The video was shot at the hostel of the ICFAI Business School located in Dontanpally in Hyderabad on 1 November.

A complaint was lodged by the victim on 11 November.

The complainant, a BBA-LLB student at ICFAI Business School, claimed that 12 people physically and sexually abused him in his dorm room. According to the victim's complaint, 15 to 20 people stormed into his hostel room at 3:30 on 1 November. They "ganged up on me, kicked my testicles, humiliated me, recorded it, and threatened to beat me to death if I didn't take my pants down," the victim said.

The victim, in his complaint, further stated, "The situation was so bad that a man prevented people from striking me in the head because I would get hurt. I have noticeable bruises under my right eye."

A case has now been booked under sections 307 (Attempt to murder), 323 (Voluntarily causing hurt), 450 (Trespass in order to commit an offence), 506 (Criminal Intimidation), and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of a common intention). "The case has been registered against 10 students, some of whom are minors. We have details of five persons—one of them is a minor," said M. Mahesh Goud, inspector of Shankarpally police station.

As per the complaint, the victim was slapped and kicked in his abdominal area. The complainant also stated that one of the students attempted to put his genitals in his mouth.

The complainant also said his clothes were torn. The assault against him was reportedly videotaped and circulated among college student groups.

The ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (IFHE) in response to the incident released the following statement, "The Institution has acted with alacrity and has taken a decision to suspend all the 12 students concerned with immediate effect. The Institution has Zero Tolerance towards such undesirable acts."

IFHE made no comments on whether the complainant reached out to the college authorities before going to the police.
