10 students hurt after escalator malfunctions at Banjara Hills RK Cineplex

Hyderabad: Around 10 students of Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan school were injured after an escalator malfunctioned at PVR RK Cineplex, Banjara Hills, on Thursday.

Banjara Hills SHO M. Narender said a few students tried to walk fast on the escalator when it malfunctioned. "All the children were immediately taken to Apollo Hospital. They have received necessary treatment and are out of danger," he said.

The students were at the multiplex to watch 'Gandhi' on Thursday morning.

The school vice-principal, S. Venkata Lakshmi, notified the concerned parents. A circular was issued that read, "This is to inform all the parents of classes 6 to 12 that all the students who went to watch a movie at Inox are safe. Ten students had minor injuries and are totally safe. Parents of injured students are informed. Please don't panic."

The state government arranged a screening of the film 'Gandhi' in theatres and multiplexes for students as part of the 75th Independence Day celebrations. Arrangements were made for 40,000 students to watch the movie.
