103-year-old centenarian takes COVID-19 vaccine in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A 103-year-old centenarian, Korada Ramachandra Sastry, got inoculated with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine of SLG Hospitals. He was administered Covishield by highly trained health professionals. He is among the oldest in Hyderabad to take the vaccine.

A retired school teacher from Chennai, Mr. Sastry was born on 15 June 1918 during a time when India suffered a similar pandemic called the Spanish Flu. Mr. Sastry is now retired and has settled down in Hyderabad along with his family.

Mr. Sastry's son, K.V Sharma, said, "It was an important decision for the family considering my father's age. But we took the decision to get him vaccinated. We are happy that the highly experienced staff of SLG Hospitals inoculated my father at our residence."

Mr. Sastry follows the news regularly and is fully aware of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic which has wreaked havoc in the lives of millions of families around the world.
