Hyderabad: A 24-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by staff members, including bouncers, at a pub in Begumpet, following a dispute over a billing discount.
The incident took place on the night of March 9 at the 10 Downing Street pub, where the victim, Pulipati Rahul Ritwik, had gone with a friend to watch the ICC Champions Trophy final.
According to Panjagutta police, Ritwik had booked a table through Zomato, which offered a 15 per cent discount on the bill. However, when it was time to pay, the pubās manager and staff reportedly refused to apply the discount and demanded the full amount.
When Ritwik and his friend objected, an argument ensued, and the staff allegedly used abusive language. As tensions escalated, a group of 6-8 bouncers, waiters and the manager physically assaulted the duo, slapping and punching them.
Despite their attempts to defend themselves, they were outnumbered and ultimately forced to pay the full bill before leaving the premises.
Following the complaint, Panjagutta police registered a case against the pubās manager, waiters and bouncers on Sunday under sections 115(2), 126(2) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation into the matter is underway.
