Hyderabad: A 11-year-old girl Saher Kaur, a resident of Gachibowli on Saturday submitted a letter to DCP Madhapur requesting to book an FIR against GHMC for dereliction of duty. In the letter, it was mentioned that despite giving several representations and the increasing accidents in the My Home Vihanga Road in Gachibowli, the GHMC has not taken any step to ensure road safety in the area.

On the morning of March 11, Saher and her father saw an accident where a bike and car were hit. "The guy on the bike is hospitalized," said Ramanjith. The father and daughter say that this was the trigger for them to approach DCP Madhapur.

"I have always observed overspeeding, people not wearing helmets, defying traffic rules, rash driving, etc. in this area. My father has been working on this issue for quite some time. So I also thought of joining him in his efforts," said Saher, a 6th standard student in Manthan International School.

Background

In December 2021, Saher's father Ramanjith Singh had given a representation to the office of Zonal Commissioner, GHMC to implement certain road safety measures to reduce the speed limit of vehicles in the My Home Vihanga Road in Gachibowli and to thereby reduce the number of accidents happening in the area. "Earlier, I had approached the DCP Traffic, Cyberabad requesting them to do a study of road safety in the area and they had published a report on the same and had given certain road safety measures in October 2021. Even after four months of that report, the GHMC has done nothing," says Ramanjith Singh.
