Hyderabad: Syed had left home at around 8 am on Thursday and headed to Musi River for fishing- his favorite pastime. He never made it back home. He was attacked by 10-15 dogs and succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

The incident took place between 11:00 am - 11: 30 pm on Thursday. "The incident took place in an isolated area. A few witnesses saw a group of dogs surrounding the boy and barking loudly. By the time the witnesses shooed away all the dogs, the boy was found severly injured. He was dead," said Kulsumpura SHO P Shankar.

The police said that they are not sure why the dogs attacked the boy. "The incident did not happen in a residential area. So far, we don't know if the dogs attacked randomly or if they were instigated by the boy. We are attempting to find out the reason behind the brutal attack," he said. A case has not been registered yet at the police station.

This is the second such incident in the last one month.

On April 26, a two-year-old boy was attacked and killed by two stray dogs in the Golconda area. The boy was playing outside his home in Satgalli (Seven Galli) area between Golconda Fort and Fateh Darwaza.

On Tuesday night at around 8:30 pm, the boy was playing outside his home when two dogs came and attacked him. The dogs dragged him and continued attacking.

The residents of the area said that the GHMC officials have not taken any action although they had previously complained to the GHMC about the stray dog menace. AIMIM Corporator Waji Uz Zaman said that it would not have happened today if the GHMC had responded to their complaints. A complaint was not received and hence, a case was registered in this incident either.
