16-year-old raped by Congress councillor in Bodhan, booked under POSCO, protestors demand stringent action

The victim was falsely misled by the councilor and raped in an isolated place.
Taken in a car
The victim was waiting for an auto-rickshaw when he saw her and convinced her that she would be dropped home. The victim was known to the councilor.
He took her in his car but instead of taking her home, he took her to an isolated place near Mangalpad Road and raped her.
After that, he went to a liquor shop to buy alcohol and started drinking.
The girl shouted for help while she was in the car. Locals heard her screaming and gathered around the car. They questioned Radhakrishna about the girl in his car but his answers were not satisfactory.
The girl was questioned who gave her account. Angry locals beat the councilor and handed him over to Yedapally police.
Protests by residents and NGOs
Victimās family members gathered in large numbers and protested outside the Yedapally police station. Her mother is differently abled and she is in a state of shock, said the locals.
Non-government organisations from the area also joined in as they condemned the heinous crime of Radhakrishna. The locals are demanding that his councillorship must be revoked.
Mohammed Idrees Khan, deputy mayor Nizamabad from AIMIM demanded that the government must take strict action. The family is shocked, he said. āWe are deeply concerned with this heinous crime and want very strict action to be taken by the police and government.ā
Case booked under POSCO Act
A case under the POCSO Act has been registered against the councillor, and he has been remanded into custody. Police officials, including ACP Srinivas, Rural CI Naresh, and Ydapalli SI Vamsikrishna, have inspected the crime scene. The victim has been sent for a medical examination.
