Hyderabad: A special team of police officials rescued two boys from a kidnapper under the Charminar police station limits. The kidnapper has been apprehended and the boys were returned to the family.
According to the police, Panaganti Gangamma (55) filed a complaint with the police on 14 March that her two of three grandchildren, Shankar alias Shankariah (7) and Shivaprasad (4), were kidnapped by an unknown woman. The incident occurred when Gangamma came with the children to Bhagyalakshmi temple at Charminar for begging at 8.30 am. She found the children missing when she came back from the nearby Shivam temple after washing her face. As per her complaint, the police registered a case and began an investigation.
A special team of officials consisting of one inspector, two sub-inspectors, and 11 constables went through footage from nearly 200 CCTV cameras to understand how the crime happened. The accused caught on camera was sent for identification to numerous sources and through the information received from auto drivers of Balapur to LB Nagar, the accused and the boys were traced and arrested. The accused, Mallamma alias Padma (32), has many children under her control who she regularly uses for begging. The other children rescued from her were sent to Spandana Home in Bandlaguda and Deccan Children's Home at Hayathnagar.
