Stephen Raveendra, Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad invoked the PD Act against two property offenders, Ajeeth Kumar and Mukesh Kumar, and detained them in Central Prison, Cherlapalli in Medchal district to prevent them from breaking the law.

The detainees are natives of Bihar and are notorious offenders, the police said. The duo had procured a country-made pistol and five live rounds from Bihar to commit robberies by threatening people in a planned manner. In one such incident, in broad daylight, they had murdered a security guard of a vehicle that refills cash of ATMs and grievously injured another staffer by shooting him with the pistol. They then stole Rs 5 lakhs from the ATM. To the onlookers, the incident looked like a scene from a violent movie. Many bystanders have been terrorized by their behaviour.

The two had also committed theft of two motorbikes and extorted of Rs 2 lakhs in three separate incidents under the limits of Cyberabad and Rachakonda Commissionerates. To stop their spread of terror, they were arrested by the Kukatpally police on May 11, 2021 and were lodged in jail.
