Hyderabad: The Telangana government has ordered that 20 per cent of the additional revenue generated from the increased ticket prices of Akhanda-2, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, be allocated to the Movie Artists’ Welfare Association.
The movie, scheduled for release on December 5, has been granted special permission for a ticket rate hike.
As per the directive issued on Thursday, all theatres screening Akhanda-2 at the revised rates must mandatorily deposit 20 per cent of the incremental earnings into a dedicated welfare account to support film industry workers.
Theatres ordered to show PSAs on drug abuse and cybercrime
The Film Development Corporation (FDC) will open and operate this separate account in consultation with the Labour Commissioner.
Additionally, theatres have been instructed to screen awareness advertisements on the harmful effects of narcotics, drug abuse, and cybercrime. District Collectors, Police Commissioners, cinema licensing authorities, and other concerned officials have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the order by all theatre managements.
