Over 200 aggrieved flat buyers staged a massive protest at Vasavi Urban, Bachupally on Saturday demanding immediate possession of their flats or a full refund with interest
Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at the Vasavi Urban project in Bachupally on Saturday. Over 200 aggrieved flat buyers staged a massive protest, accusing the developer of gross negligence and inordinate delay in handing over their homes despite collecting nearly the entire payment.
The protesters sat in front of the project gate demanding immediate possession of their flats or a full refund with interest. Many were seen holding payment receipts and agreement documents, appealing for justice before the media.
Buyers demand flats or full refund
Raising slogans like ‘Give us our flats or return our money’, the protesters demanded an immediate resolution. They warned that they would initiate legal action if their demands were ignored.
The victims also stated that they were prepared to approach the Collector’s office, RERA and other regulatory authorities to seek justice.
90% payment made as early as 2022
According to the victims, most of them had paid nearly 90 per cent of the flat cost by 2022, investing Rs 70 to Rs 80 lakh per flat. The developer had assured timely delivery, but those promises have remained unfulfilled, they alleged.
Buyers said the management had specifically committed to hand over the flats by January 2024, but even that deadline has long passed, with construction still incomplete.

Construction still incomplete, buyers alarmed
Several customers expressed shock after visiting the site and finding that basic structural and interior works are still underway, raising serious concerns over the actual progress of the project.
“The work that should have been completed years ago is still unfinished. We are losing hope with each passing month,” said one protester.
Repeated deadline shifts leave buyers in deep distress
An affected buyer said he purchased a flat in Block IV of the Vasavi Group project in 2021 after the builder assured that the venture was meant exclusively for middle-class families and promised handover by December 2024.
“By 2023, nearly 90 per cent of the flat cost was collected. However, when buyers sought possession as scheduled, the builder first postponed the deadline to August 2025 and later to December 2025, citing a shortage of staff and delays in construction,” he said.
Unrealistic deadlines provided
Last month, when buyers met the management, they were allegedly issued a letter projecting January 2026 as the new handover date. The buyer claimed that the letter was misleading and said the current pace of construction makes even the revised timeline highly unrealistic, the buyer said.
He warned that the continued uncertainty has pushed several buyers into severe mental stress. Demanding immediate government intervention, he urged the authorities to ensure strict scrutiny before granting project approvals and insisted that no new permissions be given to the builder until the ongoing project is fully completed.
Families crushed under EMI and rent burden
Many affected families revealed that they had sold their existing homes to invest in the project, while others had taken large bank loans. Due to the prolonged delay, they are now forced to live in rented houses, paying both EMIs and rent, pushing them into severe financial distress.
“Our lifetime savings are stuck here. We are paying EMIs on one side and rent on the other. There is no clarity from the builder,” a buyer said emotionally.
