24 test positive for ganja, cocaine in midnight raid on Khajaguda club, held

24 test positive for ganja, cocaine in midnight raid on Khajaguda club, held

Hyderabad: Sleuths of the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB), the Special Operations Team of Raidurgam police and excise department arrested 24 drug users during a midnight raid on Saturday night at the ‘Forest Alchemy - 3rd Edition’ event taking place at The Cave Club in Khajaguda.

The attendees at the venue for a ‘psychedelic music night’ were taken aback after the raid by 10 officials and two Narcotics Detection Dogs (NDDs). After receiving a tip, the group raided the location on the intervening night of July 6 and 7.

Out of the 55 people in the club, 24 were found to be positive for substances such as ganja and cocaine. TGANB director Sandeep Shandilya clarified, saying that the 12-panel drug test is being used for identification of the drug sample, while two, including the club DJ, also tested positive for cocaine and five tested positive for methamphetamine.

The arrested were identified as DJ Gaurang, Mahesh Chandra, Mohd Adnan, Mohd Ali, Sai Kiran, Manish Giridhar, Chintham Poojith, Faezan Shaik, Mohd Yaseen, Mohd Rafi, Sai Praneeth, Kandiregula Kiran, Neredumalli Sandeep, Pothuru Vamsi, Mohd Arbaz, Sai Kiran, Mirza Asad Ahmed, Md Raza, P Shiva, Navazuddin, M Hari Krishna, K Madusidam, Anis Mushraf, Sandeem Sharma and Rohit Varma were arrested on the spot.

All of them were booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Apart from that, the police also seized 24 cell phones and 24 drug test kits during the operation; all items have been turned over to the Raidurgam Police Station.

According to the Raidurgam Inspector, three owners and one manager of the club have also been charged under the NDPS Act. The Raidurgam police issued an order to the club’s owners to close it until further notice.
