Hyderabad: Police have registered a case against Vijaylakshmi Hospital in Ibrahimpatnam after a pregnant lady lost two unborn twins after receiving treatment from nurses.
The nurses were being guided by Dr Anusha Reddy on a WhatsApp video call to treat the patient. Police have registered a case under section 106 (1) and section 3 (5) of the Bharaitya Nyaya Sanhita.
District medical and health officer Venkateshwar Rao has seized the hospital. B Keerthi, the pregnant mother, had conceived after seven years through IVF treatment.
On Sunday, the five-month pregnant woman suffered heavy bleeding and was rushed to the hospital. Being a Sunday, the doctors were not available.
The nursing staff called Dr Anusha Reddy, who evaluated the patient on the video call. Due to heavy bleeding, the nurses were being guided on a video call to control the situation. But as the bleeding continued, the twins could not be saved.
District medical and health officer Venkateshwar Rao has launched an investigation into the case.
