Hyderabad: Three people suffered minor injuries after a road caved in on street number 5, Himayatnagar, Hyderabad on Saturday morning. Their truck fell 10 feet into the hole and the driver and two workers were injured.
The police reached the spot after the incident and started rescue operations and cleared the traffic jam.
There is a canal (nala) adjacent to the road which is connected to different canals that release drain water to the Musi river. According to the locals, similar cave-ins were reported in the 1980s and 1990s. They alleged that illegal encroachments on the nala may have resulted in the cave-in.
This is the second such incident after a similar incident was reported at Goshamahal in the Chaknavadi area on 23 December 2022. A road adjacent to the nala in the Chandanwadi area of the Goshamahal Assembly constituency caved in, shocking the locals. During the incident, local vegetable vendors, a tea stall, cars, and a parked auto rickshaw fell into the hole.
