Hyderabad: A 350 meter, four-laned steel Vehicle Underpass (VUP) has been thrown open on the link road. It connects Road No. 45 Jubilee Hills and Old Bombay Highway.

The link road had a very steep gradient at Silent valley in Nandi Hills. Heavily loaded vehicles were unable to ply on this road.

The average distance to reach Road Number 45 Jubilee Hills from Shaikpet through Silent Lake valley is about 5 km. With the new VUP, the distance has been reduced to 3.5 km.

Usually, the road joining Shaikpet and Road No.45 Jubilee Hills has heavy traffic. The new bridge is expected to ease traffic pressure on that stretch. Also, the gradients have been eased enabling heavy vehicles to ply.

Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) KT Rama Rao inaugurated two other link roads in the city on Monday. It includes 950-meter four-lane link corridor connecting Old Mumbai Highway and Khajaguda road. This road connects Pochamma Basti and the Chitrapuri Colony via Malkam Cheruvu. It would be an alternative route to reach Khajaguda road by avoiding the Khajaguda junction.

Another 1 km long-missing link of Corridor 27, running parallel to Urdu university, connects Khajaguda lake to Nanakramguda road. This corridor would be an alternate route to reach Khajaguda road from Old Bombay Highway.
