Hyderabad: One person was killed in an explosion in Afzalgunj in Hyderabad on 12 June. The incident happened at Mogaram Basti under Afzalgunj police station limits on Sunday morning.
The victim is 32-year-old Bharath Bhattad. He died on the spot. Two other people, including the man's father Venugopal Bhattad, were injured in the explosion.
Afzalgunj SI said the explosion occurred when Bharath was dumping chemicals into a nearby drain. After disposing of the chemical, Bharath poured water over it as the chemical did not settle down. The water and the chemical reacted leading to an explosion. The SI said the chemical was unsaturated polyester resin.
The Afzalgunj police have registered a case under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) dealing with suspicious deaths. They are further investigating the case. The forensic team visited the spot and collected samples for further examination.
