3,500 personnel, bike squads: HYDRAA put on alert to prevent flooding, ensure smooth traffic during rains in Hyderabad
As many as 20 teams are working alongside traffic police to prevent rain-related traffic disruptions

Hyderabad: HYDRAA has been put on maximum alert amid heavy rain forecast and potential flooding.
The agency has deployed over 3,500 personnel across the city to prevent clogging of drains and ensure smooth traffic movement.
Teams are actively clearing debris from catch pits and culverts, monitoring waterlogged areas, and coordinating with civic and traffic authorities to prevent disruptions.
City-wide monitoring and response
HYDRAA has identified 436 areas prone to waterlogging. Of these, 150 high-risk zones have been equipped with heavy-duty pumps and other measures to manage floodwaters efficiently.
Similar arrangements have been made in 142 other areas, while 144 locations with minor issues are being monitored to prevent flooding.
Manpower and resources in action
A total of 3,565 personnel are actively engaged, including 51 Disaster Response Force teams and 150 monsoon emergency teams. Nine boats have been deployed to problem areas, while 212 dewatering pumps are strategically placed to manage water accumulation.

Continuous surveillance in vulnerable areas
HYDRAA is keeping round-the-clock surveillance in 309 critical locations. Teams are tasked with opening and closing manholes, clearing debris from catch pits, and ensuring floodwater flows smoothly.
As many as 20 teams are working alongside traffic police to prevent rain-related traffic disruptions. Special units and 21 bike squads are ready to clear fallen trees and manage traffic bottlenecks efficiently.

Integrated coordination across departments
HYDRAA personnel are stationed at key points, including the Integrated Command Control Center, Telangana Development Planning Society, GHMC, fire control rooms, and three police commissionerates, all linked to the HYDRAA control room. Wireless communication ensures immediate response to emergencies.
HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath is constantly reviewing the situation, while Additional Director Varla Papayya coordinates with the control room to keep field teams alert and operational.
