352 kg of spoiled chicken seized in Moosapet, businessman arrested
Hyderabad: The Commissioner’s Task Force (H-FAST) team busted a chicken supply unit selling spoiled products in the city and apprehended a 66-year-old businessman.
Authorities seized around 352 kilograms of frozen, unfit chicken that was allegedly being distributed to local vendors for public consumption.
Raid at Moosapet uncovers unhygienic storage
Acting on credible information, the H-FAST team, along with Veterinary Officer Dr K Nagarjuna, conducted a surprise inspection at the SPR Chicken premises located near Moosapet.
During the raid, officials found large quantities of chicken stored in extremely unhygienic conditions. The seized stock included chicken wings, breast portions, ribs and livers, all deemed unfit for human consumption.

Accused identified
The police apprehended Suraj Pal (66), a businessman residing in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Kukatpally, for his alleged involvement in supplying spoiled chicken to local food vendors.
Key violations found
Officials observed multiple serious violations at the premises, including:
- Storage under poor sanitary conditions
- Expired FSSAI license
- Supply of contaminated food items to vendors
Authorities said the operation posed a significant risk to public health, as the spoiled meat was intended for use in food preparation.
The seized material and the accused were handed over to the Sanathnagar Police Station for further legal action. The raid was carried out by the H-FAST Inspector along with task force staff and local police personnel.
Public advised to stay vigilant
Police urged citizens to remain cautious while purchasing food items and to:
- Buy only from authorised and hygienic outlets
- Avoid food from unverified vendors
- Report suspicious or unhygienic practices to authorities
Officials emphasised that public cooperation is crucial to ensuring food safety and protecting community health.
