4 municipal commissioners among 29 officers fined for delaying building permissions

A total of 90 officials have been imposed with a penalty amount of Rs.2,52,000 since 2020

Officials penalised for delaying building permission in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Waking up to the complaints of delay in granting building permissions, the Telangana government has imposed fine on 29 officials including four Municipal Commissioners and 25 scrutiny officers for delaying the process of TS-bPASS applications within the time frame.

To maintain the spirit of the TS-bPASS Act 2020, the government verified the TS-bPASS applications processed from January-2023 to March-2023 and observed that there is an extreme delay by the 29 officials and vide Lr. No.2461/Plg.III/2021 Dt.10.04.2023 instructed the District Collector concerned to impose a penalty of Rs. 3000 on each official.

They include 4 Municipal Commissioners and 25 scrutiny officers. They have allegedly delayed the process of TS-bPASS applications within the time frame.

Telangana government also decided to impose TS-bPASS Act 2020 in letter and spirit for hassle-free building permissions online. It is aimed to facilitate the Building approval process for Citizens in an objective and time-bound manner.

This follows the complaints of dilly-dallying tactics by some officers in processing applications in the Municipalities / Municipal Corporations / HMDA.

The government is reviewing the performance of different officials regularly and imposing penalties on erring officials. So far penalties have been levied nine times since the commencement of TS-bPASS in the year 2020 and a total of 90 officials have been imposed with a penalty amount of Rs.2,52,000/-.

The government also advised the District Collectors to review the approval process under TS-bPASS more frequently so that delays do not occur in the future.
