The father of the child, Gangadhar, a native of the Nizamabad district, shifted to Hyderabad four years ago for a job. He has two children, a 6-year-old girl and Pradeep. He works as a watchman at a car service center in Amberpet, where the incident took place.
On Sunday, Gangadhar took his two children to his workspace. While his daughter was at the cabin, his son was playing in the compound area. When Pradeep walked towards his sister, a group of street dogs attacked him. At the time of the incident, Gangdhar was inside the workspace. Upon hearing the child's cry, the father rushed to the spot and took the boy to the hospital, where the doctors declared him dead during treatment.
According to his father, as it was a Sunday and a holiday, no one could see the stray dogs attack and rescue him immediately. He came out hearing his daughter shouting. He says there has been a stray dog menace in the area and has complained to the GHMC about this incident. Earlier, when the GHMC tried to catch the dogs, they couldn't find any.
Speaking to ANI, Telangana information technology and industries minister KTR said, "I felt very pained about the incident. We are trying to tackle the street dog menace across all the municipalities in Telangana. We have also created animal-birth control centers. My sincere condolences to the family."
