4,000 kg adulterated ginger-garlic paste seized in Hyderabad; JJ food owner held
Police seized about 4,000 kg of contaminated paste along with machinery and raw materials during a surprise inspection conducted under the limits of Lake Police Station.

Hyderabad: The Commissioner’s Task Force (Khairtabad Zone) on Thursday busted an illegal unit manufacturing adulterated ginger-garlic paste under unhygienic conditions at MS Maqtha in Khairtabad and arrested a 21-year-old businessman.
Police seized about 4,000 kg of contaminated paste along with machinery and raw materials during a surprise inspection conducted under the limits of Lake Police Station.
The arrested person was identified as Jasani Ilyan (21), owner of JJ Food, operating from premises near the Railway Gate, MS Maqtha. He is a resident of Abids.
Unhygienic manufacturing conditions
According to officials, the accused was preparing ginger-garlic paste in plastic containers in highly unhygienic surroundings.
The paste was stored in open tubs exposed to dust, flies and other contaminants, making it unsafe for human consumption.
Police said the product was being supplied to general kirana stores, wholesale dealers, restaurants and retail outlets across the city for illegal profits.
Officials also found that the FSSAI licence number printed on the packaging had expired.
A case has been registered in Crime No. 18/2026 under Sections 318(4) and 275 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Material seized
During the raid, the Task Force seized:
- 4,000 kg of adulterated ginger-garlic paste, including:
- 1,600 kg loose paste in 40 plastic tubs
- 130 containers (5 kg each) – 650 kg
- 900 containers (1 kg each)
- 300 containers (500 g each) – 150 kg
- 3,000 containers (200 g each) – 600 kg
- 2,000 sachets (50 g each) – 100 kg
- One large and one small grinding machine
- 5 kg turmeric powder
- 20 litres of acetic acid
- 1,000 kg salt (40 bags)
- One goods supply auto
Police said the accused had been manufacturing and distributing the adulterated paste in large quantities in and around Hyderabad, posing a serious health risk to consumers.
The accused and seized material were handed over to the SHO, Lake Police Station, for further investigation and necessary legal action.
