600 kg rotten chicken meat for fast food centres, wine shops seized from two Begumpet shops
Hyderabad: As much as 600 kg of rotten chicken has been seized from SSS Chicken Shop and Ravi Chicken Shop at Anna Nagar and Arjun Nagar, Begumpet, Secunderabad. The rotten chicken was found during a raid by Hyderabad Task Force officials and sanitary department staff.
The chicken was found stored in a frozen state in the form of wastage and bones.
A person named M Bhaskar, a resident of Indiramannagar, Rasoolpura, Begumpet has been running SSS Chicken Shop at Arjun Nagar, Rasoolpura. Another person named Botta Raveender, also a resident of Indirammanagar has been running the Ravi Chicken shop at Anna Nagar, Balamrai.
The police said that the duo hatched a plan to sell chicken wastage and bones to needy fast food centres and wine shops at prices lower than market price by storing them up for several months.
At such eateries, it is common to see people eating the chicken without doubting it. Fast food centres also tend to mix chicken with artificial colours and Ajinomoto to make the chicken colourful and tasteful. Since the two had been keeping chicken wastage and bones frozen for a long time, the meat had turned poisonous and would definitely create a health hazard for those who would have consumed it.
