Hyderabad to get signal-free corridor around KBR park; 7 flyovers, underpasses in two years
Hyderabad: In a major push to create a signal-free corridor around KBR Park, the Hyderabad City Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar, IPS, on Friday said that seven flyovers and underpasses will be constructed over the next two years to ensure seamless traffic movement in key parts of the city.
The works, being taken up under the H-CITI project, are being executed in a phased and coordinated manner by GHMC, the State Government and the police department to minimise inconvenience to the public.
Commissioner inspects steel flyover works
The Commissioner inspected the ongoing construction of the steel flyover at Mugdha Junction on Road No. 2, Banjara Hills. He reviewed the progress of works along with officials from GHMC, representatives of Megha Engineering and senior police officers.
The flyover is part of the larger infrastructure plan aimed at easing congestion in and around the KBR Park stretch, one of the city’s busiest traffic corridors.
Night-time construction to avoid day disruption
The Commissioner announced that the construction of six pillars on the stretch from Mugdha Junction towards KBR Park will commence from Friday night. To prevent disruption during peak hours, major construction activities will be carried out at night.
He clarified that only a minor inconvenience is expected until the foundation works are completed, after which regular vehicular movement will continue smoothly.
Improved connectivity across city zones
Once completed, the signal-free corridor around KBR Park is expected to significantly reduce travel time and congestion. The project will facilitate faster and smoother connectivity between the central, eastern and western parts of Hyderabad.
Officials said the initiative is designed keeping in view the city’s growing traffic demands and long-term urban mobility requirements.
Traffic restrictions and advisory
In view of the ongoing works, traffic restrictions will be imposed on select routes.
Motorists have been advised to plan their travel and make use of public transport wherever possible to help reduce congestion.
