Madhya Pradesh: Seven persons from Telangana returning from Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj were killed in a road accident in Madhya Pradeshā€™s Jabalpur.

The Maha Kumbh devotees, who are all relatives and friends, had taken a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam and were returning home. The incident happened on Tuesday morning when a truck collided with a mini-bus in Jabalpur while they were returning to Telangana.

While seven members died, two of them got trapped in the van and were severely injured.

Among the travellers, eight are from the Medachal-Malkajgiri District and one person is from the Rangareddy District.

The deceased have been identified as Anand Kansari, Shashi Kansari, Ravi Vaishya, TV Prasad, Mallareddy, Balakrishna Shri Ram and Raju; the two injured are S Naveenacharya and V Santosh.

According to Jabalpur district administration, on February 11, at approximately 8:15 am, near the canal between Mohla and Bargi villages under Sihora Police Station, Jabalpur District, a truck bearing registration number MP 20 ZL 9105, which was travelling from Jabalpur towards Katni, collided head-on with a traveller vehicle AP 29 W 1525 coming from Katni towards Jabalpur.

As a result, the traveller got caught between the truck and the canal. There were nine male passengers in the traveller. Seven of them died on the spot, while two sustained injuries. The injured were rushed to Medical College, Jabalpur for treatment.

After coming to know about the incident, chief minister A Revanth Reddy expressed shock and asked the officials to make arrangements for providing medical treatment to the injured.
