Meanwhile, the locals came down heavily against Secunderabad Cantonment Board ward member Pandu Yadhav. "TRS Secunderabad Cantonmet Board ward member Pandu Yadhav on several occasions broke coconuts and pretended to inaugurate Chinna Thokatta nala works at Bowenpally. It failed to take off until last month. On 5 June, hours before the incident, I personally called the contractor to ask him to build a retaining wall in order to avoid incidents before the onset of monsoon. Hours later 7-year-old Anand Sai slipped into the nala and died," an eyewitness told NewsMeter.
The eyewitness further said that the contractor had been conducting excavation works at Chinna Thokatta culvert for over a month. No retaining wall had been constructed, he added.
A criminal case has been registered against the contractor. NewsMeter could not reach the ward member.
Sai's father is an RTC driver and the family is from Kalvakurthi.
