74th Republic Day: Governor and CM hoist flags separately in TS

Hyderabad: 74th Republic Day in the state of Telangana was held by the Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan at Raj Bhavan and Chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao at Pragati Bhavan.

The flag hoisting was carried out separately by the heads of the state.

CM K Chandrashekar Rao participated in the wreath laying ceremony of the Republic Day celebrations at Veerula Sainikula Smarak at Parade grounds, Secunderabad. He remembered the sacrifices of soldiers for the country.


Police parade at Raj Bhavan after HC order

Since 2021, the Covid 19 guidelines are being followed and Republic Day celebrations have been separate in the state. But this year, central government issued orders on January 19th, 2023 to organize Republic Day celebrations including Parade. The state government did not organize and a petition was filed in the High Court. High Court on January 25th ordered that state government must conduct Republic Day Celebrations including Parade.

For this reason, last minute arrangements were made by the state government at Raj Bhavan for a police parade.

Government Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari, DGP Anjani Kumar and other senior officials participated in the ceremony. There were no ministers of KCR government at the Raj Bhavan celebrations.

Governor remembers sacrifices

Governor paid tributes at the Secunderabad Army Martyrs Memorial Stupa and remembered their sacrifices. She began her speech in Telugu greeting the people of the state.

She said, “ The Constitution of India came into effect on this very day in 1950. 73 years ago, India has become a Republic country, where the people have the collective power to design their destiny. I offer my tributes to Baba Saheb Dr. B R Ambedkar and other architects of our great Indian Constitution who enshrined the noble principles of liberty, equality, and fraternity.”

Six eminent personalities of the state recongized

At the Raj Bhavan, six eminent personalities were invited and felicitated on the 74th Republic Day. Golden Globe award winner M.M. Keeravani for film music composing, Kanukuntla Subhash Chandrabose for film lyric writing, Bhagawan Mahavir Viklang Sahayata Samiti for community leadership, M Bala Latha for education and youth empowerment, Kudumula Lokeshwari for para athletics and Sreeja Akula for table tennis.



Political leaders of BRS, BJP and Congress party hoisted the national flag in their party office buildings.
