78-year-old man lost control of his scooter and fell into a deep hole dug for sewage works in Tolichowki
By Newsmeter Network Published on 2 April 2024 10:01 AM GMTHyderabad: Negligence of the Great Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has resulted in the death of a 78-year-old man who lost control of his scooter and fell into a deep hole dug for sewage works in Tolichowki. Though he was rescued with severe injuries, he died during treatment at a hospital.
The hole was dug up on the side of the road for the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) underground sewerage system in Aditya Nagar, Tolichowki.
The elderly man was identified as Ghulam Mohammad, a resident of Gulshan Colony in Shaikhpet. The incident happened on March 31, while the elderly person was returning home after performing namaz at 5 am.
The passersby who witnessed the incident rescued Mohammad with the help of heavy machinery and shifted him to a nearby hospital for treatment. After first aid, he was shifted to Apollo Hospital in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. He died on April 1 while undergoing treatment
On April 1, a complaint was lodged by his son Mohd Amer Sayeed, in which he stated that his father while on his way home towards Tolichowki X Road, accidentally fell into the pit which was on his left on the main road due to a lack of proper barricades by Ayyappa Infra Projects while making HMWSSB underground sewerage system.
A case has been registered against the supervisor, contractor and supervising officer attached to the road works.
