8 injured as lift malfunctions at Kinara Grand Hotel, police registers negligence case

Hyderabad: The Nagole Police have registered a case against Kinara Grand Hotel following a serious lift malfunction that resulted in injuries to eight individuals. The incident occurred at 3:00 PM on May 26 during an engagement event at the hotel, located at Alkapuri X Roads.

Eight individuals—Veerabrahmama (32), Ravi Shanker Reddy (32), Manikanta Guptha (32), Manohar (32), Shajeed Baba (32), Kalyan Kumar (32), and two others—were in the lift when it suddenly fell from the fourth floor to the parking area. The malfunction, attributed to improper maintenance of the lift machinery, led to severe injuries among the occupants.

Responding quickly to the incident, bystanders broke open the lift doors and called emergency services. The injured were transported to Kamineni Hospital in L.B. Nagar for treatment.

According to the Station House Officer of Nagole Police Station, a case has been registered against Kinara Grand Hotel for negligence. "The failure of the lift, due to improper maintenance, posed significant danger and caused severe injuries," the officer stated.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
