810 fallen trees cleared in Hyderabad since July: HYDRAA
Hyderabad: Heavy downpours have brought down hundreds of trees across Hyderabad in recent weeks, disrupting traffic, blocking roads and damaging power supply lines.
Since July 1, the city’s HYDRAA teams have swung into action, removing as many as 810 fallen trees.

Quick response to emergencies
Officials said HYDRAA teams responded immediately whenever trees collapsed. In congested lanes where heavy vehicles could not enter, staff reached on two-wheelers and cut branches manually to restore movement.
For massive trees, Disaster Response Force (DRF) vehicles were pressed into service. During Ganesh idol processions, HYDRAA also cleared obstructing branches to ensure smooth passage.
Large-scale clean-up operations
Apart from tree removal, HYDRAA has been working round-the-clock to clear garbage and silt during the monsoon.
Between July 1 and August 21, teams carried out 27,272 clean-up operations, including desilting of nalas, cleaning of catchpits, and clearing of waterlogging points.

Here’s a round-up of the cleaning operations across the city:
- 15,665 catchpits cleaned
- 359 culverts desilted
- 1,670 nalas cleared
- 4,609 waterlogging points addressed
- 4,974 rain-hit locations cleaned
15 truckloads of waste removed in one day
Several hotspots received special attention. At Gangangar Nala, Malakpet, 15 truckloads of waste were removed in a single day.
Major operations were also taken up in Alwal, Malkajgiri, Kukatpally, Tolichowki and Talab Chanchalam.
With the help of JCBs, silt accumulated near nala retaining walls was cleared, while continuous cleaning is being carried out at Maitri Vanam, Ameerpet.

Less hardship for residents
Officials noted that this year, waterlogging and flooding-related issues were far fewer compared to previous monsoons. With timely intervention, HYDRAA’s sustained operations ensured smoother traffic flow and fewer disruptions for commuters and residents.
