96% of Hyderabad gated communities to ramp up green infra within 3 years: Survey
MyGate conducted a survey with 800 RWAs to understand the pulse of gated communities about electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure facilities, solar power, and rainwater harvesting.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 2 Dec 2021 2:06 PM GMTHyderabad: A recent survey has found that 96% of gated communities in Hyderabad are planning to ramp up their green infrastructure facilities in the next three years.
MyGate, the largest community management app in India, conducted a survey with 800 resident welfare associations (RWAs) to understand the pulse of gated communities about electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure facilities, solar power, and rainwater harvesting. Of the three, solar infrastructure followed by EV are the top priorities while more than half the communities had already set up rainwater harvesting facilities.
As per the findings, a large majority (86%) of gated communities in Hyderabad are planning to install solar power infrastructure within the next three years. Of these, 47% are aiming to set up the facility within the next 12 months and 39% plan to do so in one-three years. Interestingly, 11.5% had already installed such infrastructure.
The enthusiasm is not restricted to solar infrastructure. EV charging infrastructure is also on the minds of RWAs, with 78% of respondents indicating that they intend on installing EV charging infrastructure within three years. Similar to solar infrastructure, a greater proportion of communities are looking at installing EV infrastructure in the next 12 months (52%). Just two per cent of communities had already invested in EV charging infrastructure
There also remains interest in setting up rainwater harvesting facilities in gated communities, though 60% of communities had already set this up. Forty per cent of the communities are planning to invest in rainwater harvesting in the next one-three years, with 15% indicating that they would get it done in the next 12 months.
Commenting on the insights, Abhishek Kumar, the COO and co-founder of MyGate, said it was encouraging to learn of the scale at which gated communities are looking to invest in and adopt green infrastructure.
National findings
Respondents to the survey represent gated communities across Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Pune, and overall results show that the eagerness to go green is a national phenomenon. The survey found that 73.3% of gated communities across the country expressed an intent to install one of the three major green infrastructure facilities in the near term (0-3 years) while 0.6% of the communities surveyed had all three installed.
The survey found that across India, 75.4% of gated communities are looking to install EV charging units within the next three years. The number of respondents who are keen on setting up solar energy in the next three years is 75.2% while close to 53% have already implemented rainwater harvesting. Around 38.9% of gated communities are planning to invest in setting up rainwater harvesting within the next three years.
While Mumbai is leading (78% of gated communities) with regard to the installation of EV infrastructure facilities in the next three years, it is Pune (76.3%) that tops the charts when it comes to solar infrastructure, the survey found.
