Hyderabad: Police have arrested six people including a woman for marrying her 16-year-old niece to a 57-year-old man in lieu of money at Falaknuma in Hyderabad.

Police arrested Hoor Unnisa, her husband Mir Farhat Ullah, and their son Mir Rahmathullah. Cops also arrested the Qazi, Mohammed Badiuddin Quadri, who performed the Nikah, and two agents Mohammed Abdul Rahman and Waseem Khan. Groom Abdul Lateef Paramban is absconding.

Paramban, police said, later took the victim to a lodge and assaulted her sexually.

Police said after Hoor Unnisa came to know that Paramban is looking for a girl for marriage, she approached him through Mohammed Abdul Rahman and Waseem Khan.

Since her family was going through a financial crisis, she demanded a huge amount from Paramban for giving away the girl in marriage. After he agreed, she along with the agents arranged fake documents for the marriage.

Later, they approached Quadri, the in-charge Qazi of Malakpet division in the city for nikah and submitted fake documents.

After the girl's elder brother came to know about the marriage, he approached the police. Initially, a case under the prevention of child marriage was registered and later charges of rape and POCSO act were also added to the case.

"Hoor Unnisa, her husband, son, the agents, and the qazi were arrested on Thursday, while a hunt is on to nab Paramban," said MA. Rasheed, ACP Falaknuma.
