Abdullapurmet sub-registrar office shut by landlord over 3.5 years of unpaid rent; services disrupted
Hyderabad: The Abdullapurmet Sub-Registrar Office landed in an unexpected crisis after the building owner locked the premises due to non-payment of rent for 40 months, highlighting glaring administrative apathy.
Rent dues pile up for over three years
The sub-registrar office has been operating from a rented building. However, for nearly three and a half years, the government failed to pay the monthly rent. Despite repeated reminders, there was no response from the officials.
Owner left with no choice
Frustrated by the prolonged negligence, the building owner decided to lock the office premises to mount pressure on the authorities to clear the dues. Sources said he had approached the district registrar multiple times but received no assurance.
Public services disrupted
The sudden closure left citizens in hardship. Registration works and other services came to a halt, forcing people to return without completing their tasks.
Questions over financial discipline
This incident has raised concerns about the lack of financial discipline and accountability in government departments. Citizens demanded that officials act responsibly and ensure timely payments to avoid such disruptions in essential services.
