Hyderabad: The anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested Gyara Jagan, the former deputy superintendent of police (DSP) of the enforcement wing of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), for accepting a bribe of Rs. 2 lakh from a city builder. The bribe was paid in June this year.
His private security guard, Bonela Ramu, was also arrested.
Gyara Jagan had demanded a bribe of Rs. 4 lakh and accepted Rs. 2 lakhs as part payment while he was working as the DSP of the HMDA enforcement wing, the ACB said. He had taken the bribe from Bommina Koteswara Rao, the managing partner of Prajapati Constructions & Developers, to overlook the deviations in the apartments situated at Mallampet, Dundigal municipality.
The ACB is searching the residence of the former DSP and other places. Jagan and Ramu were arrested and produced before the principal special judge for SPE and ACB cases, Hyderabad.
