Hyderabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested Rajendranagar sub-registrar and document writer for accepting a bribe of Rs 5.5 lakh.
Mir Arshad Ali, sub-registrar, Rajendranagar in Ranga Reddy District was trapped at his office when he accepted the bribe of Rs. five lakh from complainant K. Aravind Mahesh Kumar, a resident of Langerhouse, Hyderabad.
ACB said he demanded a bribe through another accused Vasu, a document writer. Ali sought a bribe for the cancellation of the Development Agreement (DAGPA) pertaining to the land of the complainant's aunt.
Tainted bribe amount of Rs. 5.5 lakhs was recovered from Vasu's possession. The chemical test yielded positive results.
ACB said the sub-registrar performed his duty dishonestly.
"The sub-registrar and the document writer have been arrested and produced before the 1st Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Hyderabad. The case is under investigation," said ACB.
