Cyberabad Police Task Force has rolled out 10 more state-of-the-art vehicles to man busy roads and ease traffic congestion.

This comes at a time when road accidents have dropped by 30 percent.

Cyberabad Police Task Force was launched in August as a pilot project with six vehicles.

In early October, 10 more vehicles were added to the fleet. Now, there are 16 vehicles manning various busy roads in Durgam Cheruvu, Madhapur, Gachibowli, Kondapur, and more.

"Traffic police man the junctions and roads. However, there is a great amount of traffic and congestion," T Srinivas Rao, Cyberabad DCP, told NewsMeter.

He said the task force's responsibility is to clear the vehicles parked in no parking zone and identify spots where temporary encroachment has taken place.

He said that there are many roads in which autos and bikes stop on the side of the road which is actually a 'no stopping or no parking zone. Often, they cause hindrances and create traffic jams, he said.

"The task force will keep manning these roads and ensure that such hindrances are not created," Srinivas Rao said.

The task force operates in peak hours- 8 am to 11 am and 6 pm to 10 pm. "In addition to attending to traffic-related issues, the task force members will also immediately inform the Law and Order division if any crime or anti-social activities take place," Srinivas Rao said.

Cyberabad Traffic Police Department is also taking heed of basic civic issues such as potholes, fallen trees and branches, and uneven roads and coordinating with GHMC and other necessary departments so that the roads are repaired as soon as possible, he added.

The accidents in Cyberabad in 2022 have been reduced by nearly 30%. In 2021, 3,989 accidents took place in Cyberabad limits. In 2022, to date, 2,726 accidents have taken place.

"We are also strictly monitoring non-fatal accidents with head injuries. We are ensuring that the victims are being transported to the nearest hospital with the best facilities," Srinivas told NewsMeter.
