Hyderabad: In a major crackdown on unsafe food practices, the Commissioner’s Task Force (Khairatabad Zone), in coordination with GHMC food safety officials, busted an illegal network involved in procuring and selling adulterated and unhygienic paneer and other dairy products in Secunderabad.
Six persons were arrested during a surprise inspection near Ganj Bazaar under Mahankali police station limits.
Raid near Mahankali temple
Acting on credible information, the Task Force team along with Food Safety Officer B. Sahithi conducted inspections at multiple wholesale and retail dairy outlets near the Mahankali Temple.
During the operation, six shopkeepers were apprehended for allegedly sourcing and selling substandard dairy products.
The accused were identified as Jaipal Singh Rajpurohit, Kolariya Vaibhav, Naresh Kolariya, Prem Anil Vyas, Ram Kishore Kolariya and Laxmi Narayana Kolariya.
Unhygienic storage, no labelling
Officials found that large quantities of paneer and other dairy items were being stored in open plastic covers, exposed to dust, flies and contaminants.
The products lacked basic food safety compliance such as branding, manufacturing and expiry details. No pest control records were maintained, making the products unsafe for consumption.
