Adulterated sweets racket busted in Mailardevpally; two held, Rs 1.1 lakh worth stock seized
Hyderabad: The Mailardevpally police apprehended two persons for allegedly manufacturing and selling adulterated food items using harmful chemicals in unhygienic conditions and supplying them to local shops across the city.
The total value of the seized items is estimated at Rs 1.10 lakh.
Acting on reliable information, the police conducted raids at two locations in Subhan Colony and Laxmiguda on Sunday and uncovered illegal food preparation units operating without proper regulations or hygiene standards.
Police raid based on a tip-off
According to police, officials received information that adulterated food products were being prepared using harmful ingredients in violation of food safety norms.
Acting swiftly, teams from Mailardevpally police station raided premises in Subhan Colony and Laxmiguda.
During the raid, the police found that the accused were preparing sweets and other food items in unhygienic surroundings and mixing chemicals and artificial colours before supplying them to various shops in Hyderabad.

Two accused apprehended
The police apprehended the following persons in connection with the case:
- Abdul Haque (54), son of Abdul Khalique, a resident of Subhan Colony and owner of Lucky Foods Company.
- Mohammed Qameruddin (70), son of Md. Mazher Uddin, a resident of Brundavan Colony, Laxmiguda and owner of M/s Zee Foods.
Police said the accused were purchasing spoiled raw materials and preparing adulterated food items before selling them to retailers.
Adulterated food ingredients and finished products seized
During the raids, the police seized several food ingredients and finished products suspected to be adulterated. The seized items include:
- Expired vanilla powder flavour
- Sodium Benzodium – 10 kg
- Raspberry red colour – one small box
- Lemon yellow colour – one small box
- Motichoor laddu boxes – 98
- Loose Motichoor laddu material – 35 kg
The total value of the seized items is estimated at Rs 1.10 lakh.
Two separate cases have been registered at Mailardevpally Police Station under Sections 125, 318(4), and 274 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Further investigation is underway, police said.
