TSPSC change exam pattern

Hyderabad: Stung by a paper leak scam, Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) announced a change in the mode of examination for the recruitment of Assistant Executive Engineers (AEE) in various engineering departments.

The Commission decided to conduct a Computer-Based Recruitment Test (CBRT) instead of the earlier announced Offline OMR-based Examination of Objective Type.

The exam is scheduled to be held on May 21 and 22 in two shifts per day. As per the latest notification, TSPSC will also be using the normalization method to finalize the final scores of the candidates.

Earlier, TSPSC announced that the AEE (Civil Engineering) exam will be conducted on May 21 in an OMR-based test. However, due to the lack of adequate capacity to conduct an exam for all 44,352 candidates who have applied for the post, the Commission decided to conduct the exam in multi-shift mode.

The Commission has decided to normalize the scores of candidates taking the CBRT in multiple shifts. The allocation of examination shifts to candidates is random.

TSPSC has provided a normalization formula, which has been recommended by several organizations and recruitment agencies, such as SSC and RB, and was developed by an expert committee appointed by the commission to determine the final scores of candidates in multi-shift exams.

TSPSC also made it clear that in case of any disruption during the examination due to unforeseen conditions, the examination will be reconducted along with a new shift for only those candidates whose examination got disrupted. The modality of normalization of marks of such candidates shall be decided by the Expert Committee to be constituted by the Commission.

TSPSC advised candidates to keep a check on the official website for further updates and information regarding the examination.

The revised schedule of examination for AEE (Civil Engineering) is as follows:

Name of the post: Assistant Executive Engineers in Various Departments

Subject: Civil Engineering

Earlier announced date: May 21, 2023 (OMR Based)

Revised dates: May 21 and 22, 2023 (CBRT with Normalisation Procedure)
