Hyderabad: Apart from the demolition of ā€˜illegal structuresā€™, criminal cases are now being booked behind entities responsible for those structures.

Infrastructure companies and private builders responsible for carrying out unauthorised construction in assigned lands, Full Tank Level (FTL) boundaries and in and around lake beds are being penalised.

So far, based on the complaint filed by revenue officials, Telangana police have registered criminal cases against two entities, an infrastructure company in Bachupally called Maps Infra and a private builder from Madinaguda.

Case against builder at Madinaguda

The illegal structure came to light based on the complaint filed by V Ganga Pavani, assistant executive engineer, Irrigation Department, North Tank Division.

As per the case details, the alleged site was inspected by HYDRAA officials on August 6, as per the instructions of the superintendent engineer of Irrigation and the HYDRAA commissioner.

During the inspection, the officials identified that three constructions were done in the buffer zone of Erla Cheruvu in Madinaguda which is illegal.

The officials have found that a private builder named D Swarnalatha carried out unauthorised constructions in plots no 148 and 149. Another person D Krishna Kishore had also erected buildings in plot No 150 in survey no 25 in Vaishali Nagar, Madinaguda. A case was filed against D Swarnalatha.

Demolition of the structures was conducted on August 10 and 11 after taking all precautions, the officials said. A criminal case was registered under sections 326(a), 329(3), BNS and section 3 of the PDPP Act.

Case against Maps Infra in Nizampet

Similarly, the Cyberabad police booked a criminal case against Maps Infra managing partner P Sudhakar Reddy for carrying out construction at the FTL of Erra Kunta in Nizampet Village.

The complaint against Maps Infra was filed by T Sarah, assistant executive engineer, Irrigation Department, Irrigation sub-division No 3, Bachupally mandal in Medchal-Malkajgiri district.

In her complaint, the assistant executive engineer said that Maps Infra, represented by its MP P Sudhakar Reddy, carried out construction on the land illegally under the FTL region of Erra Kunta, as per the inspection report submitted by HYDRAA officials.

Earlier, during a routine inspection of Erra Kunta, the sheds laid on the site were demolished.

Maps Infra was given permission by HMDA in 2023

As per the case details, in 2023, Maps Infra obtained HMDA permission and a revenue sketch map in which it was observed that permission was accorded for the construction of residential buildings in survey nos 48 and 49 of Bachupally Village.

Irrigation authorities had requested the revenue officials to demarcate survey no 134 i.e. Erra Kunta and check whether the ongoing structures by Maps Infra are falling in the FTL/buffer zone of Erra Kunta or not. It was revealed that construction done by Maps Infra on survey no 134 is government lands.

The HYDRAA commissioner was updated about the details of the land during his visit to the site. On August 14, the structures falling under the FTL zone of Erra Kunta (survey no 134) were demolished by the HYDRAA officials. A criminal case was registered under sections 329(3), 324(5) BNS and 3 PDPPA and further investigation is on.
