Hyderabad: Access to a government primary school in Secunderabad has been restored after the HYDRAA’s enforcement team demolished an illegally constructed wall blocking the entrance on Tuesday.

The action came in response to a silent protest staged by the school’s headmaster, which quickly drew public and media attention.

Placard protest drew attention

Mallikarjun Reddy, headmaster of the Chilkalguda Doodh Bowli Government Primary School, stood outside the GHMC zonal office on Monday holding a placard that read, “Respected Chief Minister sir… please provide a path to our school.” His peaceful demonstration highlighted the difficulties faced by students and staff due to the obstructed access.

Acting promptly on the issue, HYDRAA commissioner AV Ranganath instructed Inspector Aditya to conduct an on-site inspection. It was discovered that locals had erected an unauthorised wall, effectively cutting off the school’s main entrance.

The encroaching structure was immediately removed under the supervision of GHMC Town Planning ACP Srinivas and his team. Zonal Commissioner Ravi Kiran confirmed that a gate would soon be installed at the cleared location to ensure permanent and secure access to the school.

The swift response has been welcomed by the local community and school authorities, who had long been struggling with the accessibility issue.
