Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has called for expediting flood-prevention measures across Hyderabad.
The Chief Minister was chairing a high-level review meeting ahead of the monsoon season.
The Chief Minister emphasized proactive planning, inter-departmental coordination, and real-time monitoring to mitigate rain-related disruptions in the city.

Emergency response on High Alert
The Chief Minister instructed that Monsoon Emergency Teams remain operational round-the-clock throughout the season. These teams will be responsible for immediate responses to flooding, waterlogging, and civic emergencies arising from heavy rains.
Waterlogging hotspots get focused attention
Revanth Reddy reviewed the progress of works at 141 identified waterlogging points in the city. He directed officials to accelerate the construction of rainwater harvesting wells at these locations and to install automatic pumping systems for effective drainage of rainwater, preventing accumulation and overflow.
Command and Control Center to monitor rain impact
In a bid to enhance disaster response, the Chief Minister proposed setting up a centralized Command and Control System to monitor rainfall patterns, drainage status, and emergency operations across the city in real time. This facility will serve as the nerve center for monsoon management.
Departments told to work in tandem
Revanth Reddy stressed the importance of coordination among key departments, including the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), the Traffic Police, and HYDRAA. He urged all departments to function in sync to ensure minimal disruption during peak rainfall.
Desilting and core urban region prioritized
The Chief Minister instructed that desilting of nalas (drains) be fast-tracked, particularly in areas where work is pending. He also directed officials to prioritize the Core Urban Region within the Outer Ring Road, given its vulnerability to flooding and high population density.
Long-term urban flood management strategy
In a forward-looking move, CM Revanth suggested framing a dedicated urban development policy focusing on the restoration of lakes, enhancement of drainage systems, and road infrastructure expansion. The policy would aim to reduce flood risks while supporting urban growth.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary A. Ramakrishna Rao, senior CMO officials Seshadri and Manik Raj, GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan, HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath, officials from HMDA, and other officials were also present.
