Hyderabad: Police seized 1,000 kg of ganja, a van, and a car, all worth Rs 3.5 crore from their possession, Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TSANB) said.
āDuring vehicle checking at Bollaram in view of upcoming assembly elections in the state, TSANB sleuths and Bollaram police apprehended the four persons and seized the narcotic from them,ā TSANB Superintendent of Police D Sunitha Reddu said.
The main accused has told the police that the lorry driver and cleaner went to Malkangiri in Odisha in the van recently and loaded 1,000 kg of ganja. He later joined them at Rajahmundry and procured four bags containing 80 kg of ganja.
The main accused started escorting the van and informed another ganja peddler to join them on the cityās outskirts, the TSNAB said.
When the accused were carrying ganja, the sleuths of TSNAB intercepted the van and seized the drugs. Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
